When I began working as a Director’s Assistant in a production company in Barcelona, I immediately understood how complex advertising language is. A language governed by the short time we are given to present an idea and where every small detail counts. I spent the following six years assimilating this language and alternating between directing music videos and my job as a Director’s Assistant working on large, high-profile projects. During this time in which I soaked up all kinds of references I became aware that a few of them had something which made them stand out over the rest. It didn’t have so much to do with the means by which something was done but more to do with how all the aspects that made them up complemented each other to create a piece with its own personality. They had found the essence of an idea and developed it to its fullest. And that is precisely the thing that stimulates me as a director: to condense and deconstruct the creative idea so as to reveal its essence and use this as a guide to create pieces that generate new sensations in those who see them, making sure that every detail helps towards enhancing that idea so as to give each piece its own unique identity. My work which has been focused entirely on directing since 2005 has received recognition and has won awards among which a “EuroBest” and a “New York International Advertising Awards” stand out. I continue to work hard to give everything I do that extra plus which takes it one step beyond.

SEBASTIAN LOPEZ BORDA
I was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. I studied filmmaking so I'm a filmmaker... but I’m more than that (I hope). I am the photograph in my father’s room, I’m a cheesy song I composed in elementary school, I’m the short film I made because I was in love (which received some international awards), I’m the stories I would make up to hit on my girlfriend. I’m the commercials I’ve directed for both small and big brands. I’m also the hundreds of treatments I’ve made. The rejected ones as well as the approved ones. I’m the thousands of scouted locations that were not chosen, the carefully picked directional tones and language, all those references, ideas and imagined colors that come in the middle of the night…
I'm 32, life is short and I love to film. I used to work for production companies as the in-house director. Now I am a freelancer. So in the end, I'm the guy who is gonna do it all to find the best way to tell the story.
